North of Mexico

The states in Mexico have their own  caracteristics, which make a state unique, the culture, the  food, the people, the costumes, etc.
This entry shows  representative dances in the north of Mexico.
The north of Mexico is conformed by Chihuahua, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, Coahuila, Sonora,etc.







Dance in Chihuahua:
The representative dance of Chihuahua its "duruburi", this dance is performed by "Los Tarahumaras de la Sierra", indians of Chihuahua. Duruburi dance is a ritual dedicated to the "father Sun and the mother Moon". It is danced in the religious festivities, this dance is performed in the outsides, with the purpose that the stars could see it
Also in Chihuahua are  performed vals and polkas,  dances that came from different parts of the world but it became important in Chihuahua since 1910.

Dance in Nuevo Leon:
The representative dance of Nuevo Leon is "the huapango", it is an traditional mexican  dance, it is a dance that is played fast and its played with the traditional instruments of  the north of the country.
The huapango dance has his origin in the era of the conolization, its a fusion of the native music fetivities and the traditional musicals of the european people that came to America. The important things of the huapango are the instrumentation and the rhythmic, they show the influences of the european music.

Dance in Tamaulipas:
 The traditional dance of Tamaulipas is "the Picota". The Picota has his origins in the ancient dances dedicated to the fertility of the ground. The origin of this dance is located in Villa de San Carlos, where the indians fight and scape of the attacks of the colonits. The colonist abuse the prisoners,they shamed them with sound of drums. Eventually the people started to use that music but with happy rhythmics and caracteristic movements of the state. The instruments used in this dance are the drums and the clarinet, only that instruments are necessary to start the dance, the people dance barfoot with strong steps in four bars coupled with the rhythm.

Dance in Sinaloa:
In the age of the colonization, the state of  Sonora was involved with the spanish culture, after the independence consummate, the people of Sinaloa started to do a lot of festivals where the drums (tamboras) were the essential part of the dances and still.
The representative dance of Sinaloa is the amor imposible dance (impossible love).
Almost all the dances are with a couple, in the amor imposible dance, the Sinaloan people make a dance where the people can see the love of people that has no aspiration to get a relationship with the nobility people,  this dance is accompanied  with the mot representative instrument of Sinaloa, the drums.

Dance in Durango:
For the Durango people, the music its one of the most important traditions in the country, they think that of the indians dances but also they think that  the europe dances are similar and important in Durango.
The representative dance of Durango is "Las Cacerolas". The cacerolas its a polk that its generally danced with fast rythm but some people dance this polk with strong steps that make the dance to have more variety and in some cases, difficult to eject the moves.
